Maggie Cullinane

Maggie Cullinane is a technician demonstrator at Cardiff School of Art & Design, teaching all forms of embroidery and fabric embellishment to students from across the school. She also volunteers as a fundraiser for Mothers of Africa, setting up the quilt project in 2012. As well as raising vital funds for this small (but mighty) charity, the annual quilt exhibition helps to publicise the charity’s work supporting women in sub-Saharan Africa through pregnancy and childbirth. In addition to this, in 2014, Maggie made two trips with the charity to Shiyala, in rural Zambia, taking with her on the first, three brand new electric sewing machines, which she taught the local women how to use. The second trip helped develop the women’s skills so that they could make money for themselves and their community.
